The Banana NutriTech: Technologies in Banana Biostimulation and Nutrition, a technical event organized by Ferpacific to share with producers the latest technologies and solutions for the nutrition and biostimulation of commercial banana cultivation, brought together dozens of banana producers from Guayas, Los Rios, and El Oro.
The event was held in the cities of Guayaquil and Machala and was attended by experts in plant nutrition, such as Engineer José del Valle (Manttra), Ricardo Toledo (Verdesian), and Cristofer Román (Ferpacific).
The topics discussed at the event were:

✓ The importance of soil fertility and recovery of soil health
✓ The impact of abiotic stresses on plants and how to overcome it
The specialists also emphasized that the technologies in nutrition and biostimulation are key tools to increase banana productivity.
Bananas are one of Ecuador's main agricultural export products. However, production faces various challenges, such as declining productivity, weakening plantations, climate change, and international competition.
The importance of soil health
José Del Valle, technical manager of Manttra, provided technical instructions to enhance fertilization plans to help the soil regain its microbial life capacity, which is essential for the crops. The goal of soil health is correcting the soil's chemical and physical composition by incorporating elements that increase beneficial microbial life, he stated.
"We need to carry out more training events like this one so that banana producers understand that production requires more than simply handling inorganic fertilizers, that they must also include new viable tools to optimize their production processes," he said.
Effects of climate change
According to Ricardo Toledo, Business Manager of Verdesian, climate change has greatly influenced the physiology of musacea. Abiotic stress, for example, negatively affects the growth and development of plants.
The decrease in growth and productivity is due to the weakening of the plants, making them more susceptible to diseases and pests. The death of the plants responds to adverse weather conditions, Toledo added. In his talk, the expert presented strategies and solutions to mitigate abiotic stress in banana plantations.
Efficient and differentiated technologies
The Active, Radical Pac, and MAC technologies, versatile and non-traditional technologies, were presented at the event. According to Cristofer Román, Ferpacific's commercial technical manager, the Banana NutriTech event has become a fundamental space for exchanging knowledge and practices that strengthened this sector. Participants acquired key tools to optimize their production processes, improve the quality of their crops, and enhance their profitability with adequate nutrition.
