Kyrgyzstan's strawberry producers are aiming to increase the average yield of strawberries to 20 tons per hectare, to reach $1 billion in export volume by 2030, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Bakyt Torobaev, recently met with representatives from state banks and domestic strawberry producers-exporters to discuss strategies for enhancing the export potential of Kyrgyz strawberries. The meeting included a comparative analysis of competitors in the target market and an examination of market entry conditions. Additionally, they addressed the allocation of land for constructing storage facilities for strawberries and discussed the further development of comprehensive export regulation processes.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Kyrgyzstan exported $825,000 worth of strawberries in 2023. To achieve the $1 billion target by 2030, the country needs to export $143 million worth of strawberries annually starting this year. Meeting this annual target would enable domestic producers to reach the $1 billion mark over the next seven years.
Currently, the price per kilogram of strawberries ranges from €2.6 to €10.4.
