Local identity fuels fashion: Uttaradit's Durian-themed apparel attracts tourists

Various provinces in Thailand are capitalizing on local cultural identities to design unique apparel, which has become popular among tourists. In Uttaradit, garments featuring patterns of the locally renowned Long Lablae and Lin Lablae durians, known for their bright yellow, sweet, and creamy flesh with minimal odor, have gained popularity.

A local business, Tawanchai Cotton, utilizes Italian silk to create comfortable, lightweight pants that showcase these durian varieties along with local floral and fabric motifs. The pants have attracted both Thai and foreign buyers, boosting local employment and income. Additionally, a new clothing line, including durian-themed Hawaiian-style shirts and pants, will launch soon, further embracing local heritage and boosting the regional economy.
