US almond orchards: Promising progress in disease management ahead of summer

Orchards across various regions in the US have moved beyond the petal fall stage, with most petal fall sprays concluded. Growers are now focusing on disease management strategies to address potential threats such as rust, scab, and Alternaria.

Valent U.S.A.'s Field Market Development Specialist, Todd Burkdoll, highlights the necessity of early disease intervention, particularly in high-density blocks or those previously affected by diseases. Burkdoll notes the likelihood of rust incidence this year, attributing it to recent and upcoming rain events. He anticipates a year of heightened pressure from Alternaria and rust.

Proactive disease management is deemed crucial for effective control. Burkdoll recommends the use of Quash for combating Alternaria and rust, advocating for its early application as a preventative measure.
