In the first quarter of 2024, Uzbekistan reported a significant uptick in its agricultural exports, totaling 375,300 tons of fruits and vegetables. This volume represents a 72.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the State Statistics Agency. The financial outcome of these exports reached $291.8 million, marking a year-on-year growth of 20.7%. Among the primary recipients of Uzbekistan's agricultural products were Pakistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, with Pakistan accounting for 26.2% of the total exports, Russia for 25.1%, and Kazakhstan for 10.1%.
The export landscape showed notable disparities across different products. Onion exports experienced a significant rise, increasing 18.3 times to achieve a value of $25.9 million. Cabbage exports also saw a substantial increase, quadrupling to $22.2 million. On the other hand, grape and mash exports witnessed declines, with grapes dropping by 56% to $4.7 million and mash by 37.6% to $16.6 million. Tomatoes, in particular, faced a downturn in the first quarter of 2024, with 8,000 tons exported at a value of $8.7 million, a 33.3% decrease from the 12,000 tons exported in the corresponding period of 2023. In March 2024 alone, tomato exports amounted to 2,900 tons.
