The Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Junta de Andalucía published a report on the phenological status of greenhouse crops in the region. In Almeria, melon crops are at various stages of development, from growth to maturation. Some areas are already being harvested. Zucchini is in full production, presenting good curdling and fruit quality. The collection of peppers as a single crop is ending. It will only continue if the price allows it. Spring tomatoes are affected by Tuta absoluta, and the eggplant and cucumber harvest continues with good fruit quality.
In Cadiz, greenhouses produce zucchini and French cucumbers. Green Italian peppers show good yields and no notable pests. Galia melon crops are in different stages, from flowering to fruit fattening. The pear tomato campaign is beginning and there are crops in various stages of development.
In Granada, especially in the Baza region, tomatoes are in their growth stage and producers are planting hydroponic cherry pear tomatoes. Zucchini crops were planted in early April and Italian peppers will be planted this week. In Vélez de Benaudalla, in La Costa region, producers are harvesting eggplants and the cucumber crops' cycle is ending.
In Huelva, strawberry production is decreasing, affected by weather conditions and a lack of labor. The raspberry crops' second production cycle yields 1 kg/plant in varieties such as Adelita.
Finally, the greenhouses of the Velez-Malaga region in Malaga are producing different kinds of tomatoes, with average yields and falling prices. Eggplant production is starting, and producers are harvesting Italian and Lamuyo peppers (mainly the red ones). French-style cucumber production is low, and thin black zucchini is being harvested in Torrox-Almayate.
