Due to the summer season, Pune has experienced a reduction in the arrival of fruits and vegetables, leading to a price increase of 5 to 10% for onions, green gram, beans, and peas. Conversely, the rates for other fruits and vegetables have remained stable. However, the prices for coriander, spring onions, and sorrel have surged by 15 to 20%, with a similar 5 to 10% increase observed in other leafy vegetables.
On Sunday, 5th May, the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard received 90 truckloads of produce from Maharashtra and other Indian states. Vilas Bhujbal, a senior trader, detailed the arrival of various commodities, including green chilies, mangoes, cabbages, beans, groundnuts, peas, and garlic from states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The Pune Division contributed with ginger, okra, tomatoes, green chilli, cabbage, flowers, cucumber, red pumpkin, and onion, alongside 30 to 35 truckloads of potatoes from Indore, Agra, and local areas.
