According to a monthly survey, the total number of U.S. apples in storage on April 1, 2024, was 95 million bushels, 33 percent more than last April's total of 71 million bushels and 27 percent more than the five-year average for that date.
Fresh apple holdings this April totaled 68 million bushels, 36 percent more than the inventories reported for last April. Processing holdings totaled 26 million bushels, 25 percent more than last year on April 1.
This report captures more than 95 percent of the national storage capacity.
