In the Odessa region, there is an anticipation of sowing approximately 15,000 hectares of vegetables for the 2024 season, marking an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous year, as stated by Oleg Kiper, the head of the regional military administration.
The region is nearing the completion of its vegetable sowing, covering an area of 14,000 hectares. The focus is on augmenting the production of melons and watermelons. Preliminary estimates suggest a gross vegetable harvest of about 290,000 tons, against a regional consumption rate of 315,000 tons, aiming to fulfill the local demand for vegetables substantially. The region also expects to produce an excess of tomatoes and onions, planning to distribute these surplus vegetables to other regions.
