Afghanistan is actively expanding the geography of its fresh fruit exports, aiming to go beyond the Pakistani market. Authorities are eyeing Central Asian countries, particularly Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as new promising destinations for Afghan agricultural produce shipments.
Nuriddin Azizi, acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, revealed the initiation of negotiations with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran regarding fruit exports. The initiative stems from Afghan agricultural producers, who approached the authorities before the harvest season began, urging them to find new markets for their products.
Until now, Pakistan has remained the sole importer of Afghan fruits and berries, primarily grapes, apples, and pomegranates. Economic expert Mohammad Nabi Afghan emphasizes the necessity of diversifying export markets and the importance of exploring opportunities to enter the markets of South Asia and the Gulf countries through Iran, as well as the markets of Central Asia through Uzbekistan.
